Employability Module for Postgraduate Double degree students
The Aston Professional Development Programme (PDP) is an integral module that forms part of our MSc taught course from day one. This compulsory and credit-bearing module runs throughout the academic year. We have designed it around knowledge through practice - to enhance students’ employability as they customise the PDP experience to suit their own learning goals and skills development needs.
We take a multidimensional, qualitative and individually tailored approach. Using reflective models, we integrate a competency-based framework into our existing academic programmes.  Students will engage with different kinds of experiential learning, such as simulations, entrepreneurship project, work-based experience and study abroad and develop their own unique skillset.
The module is credit bearing and assessed through formative and summative assignments. Students must successfully complete it in order to be awarded their Aston Masters’ degree. It is therefore worth taking note that if they elect to undertake an extended internship or study abroad placement as part of the module, this will change the end date of their course and affect the date of award of their Aston degree and therefore the award of their home institution degree. Please ensure that you agree with your students whether they can engage with either of those options. Additional information on the Professional Development Programme can be found at:
